UK Will Trial Vending Machines To Sell E-cigarettes

According to the foreign reports, Digital identity technology company 1 account has launched an e-cigarette(herbal heating sticks) vending machine in the UK which will be launched in supermarkets this spring. The first machines have been installed at the Leicester branch of E-cigwizard as part of a 12-month trial. As well, they reveal to appear in household-name grocery retailers.

The process on how to purchase products from the machine, customers must download the 1account app, upload ID to prove age and take a selfie. This information is then validated across multiple data points including phone records. Then select the desired product, open the app and scan the QR code on the machine and make a card payment to distribute it.

In addition to that, 1account founder and CEO Ben Keirle told the media that the use of vending machines to sell consumer goods has increased significantly in recent years as retailers better understand the needs of modern consumers.

Also, this pilot project with e-cigwizard and future trial partners aims to assess whether the sale of age-restricted goods can be part of the ongoing expansion of a new generation of smart vending machines to ensure age-restricted products are not accessible to children. Besides, the trial was approved by Bucks & Surrey Trading Standards including high street retail stores, NHS locations and pubs. In the first trial, the 1account software was initially integrated into machines made by London-based vending machine maker Aeguana.

Furthermore, 1account aims to roll out its ID technology in stores that sell restricted products (such as alcohol, knives) and in establishments that require ID. The company has also participated in the Home Office sandbox test in which grocers such as Tesco, Aldi, Asda, Co-op and Morrisons are participating using technology to approve alcohol sales. As well, Keirle added that today adult customers have more choices than ever where they buy vaping products, including specialty vaping retail stores, supermarkets, convenience stores, online and now vending machines.

Therefore, the new generation of machines combined with our leading digital ID technology provides adults with greater access to vaping products, which are government regulations at least 95% less harmful than traditional cigarettes, while also preventing under-18s Children master e-cigarette equipment(heechi heating device) and e-liquids.
