Russia Will Be Smoke-free?

The world’s four largest tobacco companies collectively announced the suspension of business in Russia.

Because of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, people in Russia may face a situation of no smoking. These include traditional cigarettes, vaping E-cigarettes and heat-not-burn E-cigarettes(heat-sticks supplier). As stated to the foreign reports, the world’s four leading tobacco companies are adjusting their strategies in Russia and Ukraine after its war. Amid ongoing supply chain disruptions and a changing regulatory environment, PMI has also initiated plans to scale back its manufacturing operations.   PMI chief executive Jacek Olczak said in a statement that “We watch the war in Ukraine with shock and condemn the violence in the strongest terms. We stand with the innocent men, women and children who are suffering. We join the many voices calling for an immediate end to the war and the restoration of peace.”   As well, PMI has helped more than 800 people evacuated from the most affected areas; provided important assistance to employees who remained in Ukraine; and provided practical support such as logistics, medical care, funds, etc. And for those leaving in neighboring countries, PMI will continue to pay all its Ukrainian employees during this period.   British American Tobacco: Suspend Ukraine business and Russian investment BAT had suspended all operations and manufacturing in Ukraine. As well, suspended all planned capital investments in Russia.   The company wrote on its website that “In Ukraine, we have suspended all operations and are providing our colleagues with all the support and assistance we can, including relocation and temporary accommodation. Also, our businesses on the border with Ukraine are assisting humanitarian relief efforts.   On the other hand, “In Russia, we have built up a complete workforce across the country including substantial local manufacturing. Our operations in Russia continue to operate. As a key principle in this extremely complex and uncertain environment for employees and their family’s period, we have a responsibility to take care of them.”   Japan Tobacco: Suspend all new investments and marketing activities in Russia. JTI announced that it is suspending all new investments, marketing activities and halting plans to launch its Ploom X heated tobacco product in Russia.   The company wrote in a press statement that, “Unless the operating environment and geopolitical situation improve significantly, JTI cannot rule out the possibility of suspending its manufacturing operations in the country”.   Imperial Tobacco: Suspend all operations in Ukraine and Russia Imperial Tobacco has suspended all operations in Russia, halted production at its Volgograd factory and halted all sales and marketing activities.   The company wrote in a statement that “We have suspended operations in Ukraine to prioritize the safety and well-being of our 600 employees in the country”.
