JT Q2 Results: HNB product revenue growth of more than 25.5% Ploom expanded into 21 markets
On August 2, Japan Tobacco Corporation (JT) released its financial report for the second quarter and first half of 2024, showing that the company achieved significant financial growth during the quarter. Operating income in the second quarter increased 14% year-on-year to 829.6 billion yen (approximately 5.58 billion US dollars); Net profit rose 3.9 percent year on year to 147.9 billion yen ($1 billion). For the first six months of the year, operating income increased 12.7% compared to the same period in 2023 to 1,569.9 billion yen (approximately $10.6 billion); Net profit of 305.2 billion yen (about 2.05 billion US dollars) increased by 6.3% year-on-year.

"JT Group performed well in the first half, with enhanced market share and pricing strategies driving growth in the tobacco business. Total sales volume increased by 2.0% year-over-year, with combustible products up 1.7% and heating without Burning products (RRP) up 25.5%. "In Japan in particular, Ploom sales grew 36 percent and continued to grow in 21 markets around the world."
