UNITED STATES

VPZ, the UK’s largest e-cigarette retailer, closed all of its 155 stores nationwide as of March 24 following warnings from the government and the World Health Organization.

FRANCE

In the face of the Covid-19 outbreak, VapingPost reported that on March 14, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe declared a Level 3 Covid-19 alert. All non-essential stores closed except restaurants, pharmacies and tobacconists, E-cigarette stores are not allowed to remain open. Anyway, consumers may order thru delivery or pick-up. In addition to that, under an amendment to the ordinance, shops will be deemed “of public interest”and were allowed to reopen as long as they take all necessary precautions to avoid the spread of the virus.

ITALY

In an effort to contain the epidemic, the Italian government has taken drastic measures, such as banning all public gatherings, closing schools and restaurants. Initially, the list included e-cigarette stores, but the ban has been lifted now.

Dr Riccardo Polosa, a world-renowned scientist on reducing the dangers of e-cigarettes(heat not burn herbal sticks) and tobacco, has successfully persuaded the Italian government to absolve itself from closing e-cigarette stores.
On March 13, the Ministry of Health and Italian Prime Minister issued a statement saying that in addition to tobacco shops, e-cigarette shops will also be permited to operate.

SPAIN

Similar to Italy, e-cigarette shops are included as living necessity and can continue to operate during and outbreak.

CANADA

On March 23, Ontario Premier Doug Ford released a list of essential services for the industry operating points that will continue to operate during the COVID-19 outbreak.
